Lakeya Mitchell is a Licensed Professional Counselor, author, and behavioral health leader dedicated to delivering compassionate, trauma-informed care. Originally from Tampa, Florida, she currently resides in Charleston, South Carolina, and proudly considers Savannah, Georgia home.

Lakeya earned her Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Savannah State University and her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from South University. She is licensed as a Professional Counselor in Georgia, South Carolina, Texas, and Florida, demonstrating her commitment to serving diverse populations across multiple states.

As the founder of Transfigurations Counseling LLC, Lakeya specializes in treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), trauma, anxiety, and depression. She is certified in crisis intervention and suicide prevention and has over eight years of experience as a Suicide Counselor, supporting individuals in high-risk and crisis situations.

Lakeya brings extensive experience across multiple areas of behavioral health, including HIV and sexually transmitted disease education, prevention, and care. She has also served in executive leadership roles, including Practice Manager over three clinical sites, where she contributed to developing policies and procedures and helped build and guide a pain management program within Fetter Health Care Network.

In addition to her clinical and leadership work, Lakeya is the author of Unmasking Me: The Weight I Was Never Meant to Carry, reflecting her commitment to mental health advocacy and personal empowerment.

Lakeya is passionate about reducing mental health stigma and promoting healing, resilience, and wholeness in the communities she serves. She is a lifetime member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
