Your discovery call

What to expect on your discovery call

A free, 30-minute phone call with a Radial care navigator. We’ll get to know what you’re looking for, check your insurance, and, if it’s a fit, schedule your first visit with a clinician.

Who you’ll talk to

Your call is with a care navigator, not a clinician. Care navigators handle the practical side of getting started: insurance, scheduling, and matching you with a clinician who’s licensed in your state and works with your plan.

This isn’t a medical appointment. You won’t be diagnosed or asked to commit to treatment. Questions about which treatment is right for you get answered by your clinician at your first visit. That first visit is billed to your insurance, and you may owe a copay.

What we’ll cover

  • 01
    What brought you to Radial
We’ll start by asking what’s going on and what you’re hoping for. There’s no right answer.
  • 02
    A few basics
Your name, date of birth, contact info, the state you live in, and how you heard about us.
  • 03
    Your mental health history
Whether you’re seeing another mental health clinician and plan to keep seeing them, and what you’ve already tried for your mental health, including medications and therapy.
  • 04
    Getting to the clinic
Treatments like TMS and Spravato® usually mean coming in person, often several times a week for a number of weeks. We’ll talk through whether that works for your schedule and commute.
  • 05
    Insurance and cost
If you’re using insurance, we’ll take down your plan details and start verifying your benefits. If you’re paying out of pocket, we’ll walk you through pricing and options.
  • 06
    A few standard safety questions
We ask everyone these. They help us make sure you get the right level of care.
  • 07
    Next steps, if you’re ready
We’ll schedule your first appointment (a clinical evaluation) with a clinician who accepts your insurance, in person or virtual. Not sure yet? That’s fine. We can follow up when you’re ready.

Have these ready

Your insurance card

Plan name, member ID, and group ID. If the plan is under someone else’s name, have their name, date of birth, and address handy too.

A list of your medications

Mental health medications from the past 5 years, with doses and roughly when you took them. Your insurance company needs this to approve most treatments, so having it early speeds things up.

Your calendar

So we can book your first appointment on the call.

A private spot for about 30 minutes

Somewhere you’re comfortable talking openly.

Make sure you get our call. We’ll call from your local Radial clinic’s number, so pick up even if you don’t recognize it.

Missed our call or need to reschedule? Call or text back the number we called you from, or email ask@meetradial.com. It takes a minute and frees the time for someone else who’s waiting.

After the call

Your questionnaires

Complete them at app.meetradial.com before your appointment. If they’re not done, we may need to reschedule.

A photo of your insurance card

Upload the front and back so we can finish verifying your benefits.

A few consents to sign

Terms of Service, HIPAA Policy, Privacy Policy, and Telehealth Consent. An optional consent lets us request records from past providers. Saying no won’t affect your care.

A local point of contact

Your clinic’s care team becomes your go-to person from here on.

This call isn’t a coverage guarantee. We start verifying your benefits, but final coverage depends on your plan and the treatment plan your clinician recommends. It’s worth checking with your insurance company before your first visit too.

Questions

Is the call free?
dropdown arrow

The discovery call is free, with no obligation. Your first appointment with a clinician (your clinical evaluation) is not free. It’s billed to your insurance, and you’ll likely owe a copay. If you’re paying out of pocket, we’ll tell you the cost before you book.

Will I talk to a doctor?
dropdown arrow

Not on this call. You’ll meet your clinician at your first appointment, which we can schedule on the call.

Do I need insurance?
dropdown arrow

Most patients use insurance, and we work with many plans. Self-pay is an option, but treatments like TMS and Spravato® can be expensive without coverage. We’ll go over what you’d pay either way before you decide anything.

What if I’m not sure I want treatment yet?
dropdown arrow

That’s completely fine. Many people use the call to learn more and decide later.

Need help right now? Radial isn’t an emergency service. If you’re in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), or call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
